Bangkok (or Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, as some call it)

Bangkok ended up being a weekend trip from Singapore, but it was wonderful to see the city years (8!) after first meeting my Thai friends while in the Czech Republic.  I got to reunite with a friend of mine who acted as a tour guide for part of the day, before heading to a wonderful cafe that I never would have expected in Bangkok.

I don’t quite know what I was expecting from Bangkok; there is a river that runs through it used for transportation.  The temples are stunning, but it also a lot more cosmopolitan than I had expected. One of my favorite parts was the Chatuchak market.  The diversity of offerings was incredible, and I particularly liked the section with up- and coming- artists. Traveling through the city on bikes meant taking in the urban and serene parts of the city; the canals that criss-cross the city, the main tourist attractions, and among the craziness of the roads.
